fancy a cup in a nutshell?

i’ll start by telling my story from the beginning and hopefully in a nutshell.

chapter one
way back when i was in my early teens, mum, dad and my brother, were lucky enough to travel and live overseas for a few years. two years were spent in west sussex, england where i attended millais school for girls… 1981 saw us in sweden, where my brother and i attended the international school of stockholm, a co-ed school. i was 15-16 years old and i would say that year was the best year of my schooling life. my friends came from all around the world.. north america, japan, spain, africa, yugoslavia and sweden, to name a few. the year flew and before i knew it, it was time to say goodbye to the friends i had grown to know and love. i knew i would miss them dearly.  i still have the little black notebook where you all wrote goodbye messages and signed in june 1982. in years to follow, i had kept in touch with my closest friends… and then, as to be expected, it slowly dwindled to no contact at all. i was used to it.. i’d moved schools several times before.

chapter four
earlier this year i joined facebook and who do you think i looked up first? yes… those friends i’d said goodbye to all those years ago. my heart skipped several beats when i found my gorgeous friend… and through her, found most of the gang from the international school of stockholm. there are a few i’d still like to find.. and i’m still trying to find my best friend in west sussex, england. i’m not having much luck there. anyway, through facebook i came into contact with helene.. who has been living in melbourne for several years now! we caught up on eachothers lives.. married, gorgeous children and busy starting our own businesses.. helene and her husband richard run SweDelicious.. ‘delicious flavoured tea blends that will indulge your senses.’ herbal teas, black teas, herbal and fruit infused teas.. and a viking range that will surely tantalise any taste bud.

chapter three
helene was impressed with my work [having seen my photos on facebook and my website]. she asked if i’d be interested in photographing her range of teas for their new concept ‘tea cards’ [cards to be sold with a sample of tea]. needless to say i was interested! after a few discussions on how best to approach the job.. we met for the photoshoot. it was great to see helene again.. she hadn’t changed a bit. helene was well armed with props and teas and me with camera, lenses, cups/saucers, vintage cloth serviettes, books and pottery wares, we began the grey melbourne day setting up at the beautiful swedish church.

chapter four
working with helene [and richard] was a dream. they were more than happy for me to set up and click.. set up and click. with a few ranges to get through, we spent the whole afternoon moving and re-arranging books, teas, tea cakes, cups, saucers, little swedish horses and the like. it was a long day in terms of hours.. but it was a little bit like a three hour movie but only feeling like it was an hour and a half. thank you helene and richard for employing my services and having faith in me.

chapter five
here are just a select few taken on that cold grey winter’s day.

chapter six
you can buy tea and tea cards at SweDelicious and selected stores..

.. ok.. perhaps my story wasn’t in a nutshell after all.
